Farah for Absent Findings

Farah Soltani — friend of the house and a deeply talented artist whose practice invites us to look twice at the familiar.

Working across sculpture, painting, video, and text, Farah draws from fragments of everyday life, transforming and recontextualising them through shifts in scale, colour, texture, and placement. Her work creates a space where the ordinary becomes slightly strange, where recognisable forms are removed from their expected surroundings and given the possibility to become something else.

There is a sense of quiet experimentation throughout her practice — an ongoing process of restructuring, reconsidering, and seeing again. Objects, images, and ideas move between contexts, taking on new meanings through subtle but deliberate interventions.

For this story, we stepped into Farah’s own studio, the space where many of these transformations begin. Surrounded by works in progress, materials, fragments, and pieces of her visual language, the studio becomes an extension of the work itself — intimate, unfinished, and constantly evolving.

In conversation with Absent Findings, Farah’s world reflects a shared interest in questioning what we think we know, finding new meaning in what already exists, and allowing familiar references to become something unexpected.
