what's the colour of my voice? — Spring/Summer 2027

Lineapelle, September 2026

On 25 September 2026, Absent Findings presented What’s the Colour of My Voice? at Spazio Lineapelle in Milan. The occasion marked our first presentation on the official Women’s Milan Fashion Week calendar and our second participation in Lineapelle Designers Edition—a meaningful step in the growing story of our Dubai-based brand.

Through clothing and film, the presentation brought visitors into the world of Spring/Summer 2027: a surrealist dream grounded in a strange semblance of normalcy.

Drawing on the imagined worlds of Leonora Carrington, the sculptural figures of Oskar Schlemmer, Victorian frills, and the familiar codes of school uniforms, SS27 explores how clothing gives shape to an inner voice. Recognisable forms become slightly unfamiliar through unexpected proportions, drape, and details. Tailoring meets theatrical gestures, while deadstock textiles and heirloom sari fabrics carry memories into new silhouettes.

At the heart of the collection is our continuing idea of “A Uniform for Artists.” Here, the uniform becomes a starting point for individual expression—a way of dressing with intention, with room for play, contradiction, and personal interpretation. The collection turns inward to the studio, where making becomes a quiet act of rebellion and imagination takes physical form.

The accompanying film extends these ideas into a theatrical apartment suspended between waking and dreaming. Small gestures open questions about intention and consequence: a house of cards carefully built by one character is playfully knocked down by another. Does an action carry the same weight in a dream? Can care and play misunderstand each other?

Artworks by UAE-connected artists Sara Kamar, Ahmed Emad, Inés Boubakri Haddad, and Farah Soltani enter into conversation with the collection, alongside furniture by Forma Object. Their presence connects the imagined setting to the creative community around us. Clothing, image, and objects share the space, each giving the others a sense of grounding.

Presenting this world on the Women’s Milan Fashion Week calendar for the first time was a proud moment for Absent Findings, and an opportunity to bring our perspective—shaped by Indian heritage, Italian craft, and life in the UAE—to a wider audience. Returning to Lineapelle Designers Edition for a second time gave us a platform to continue that conversation through materials, experimentation, and the process of making.
